THE BRIDAL TAN

Walking down the aisle with a beautiful, bronzed glow can add an extra touch of radiance and confidence to your Brides wedding day look.

Weddings are a magical time, but they can also bring with them stress as the date gets closer, so make sure you understand, what your bride needs, long before the big day.
When choosing the right spray tan for a bride, it’s important to consider her skin tone, desired look, and the overall theme or style of the wedding.

Black Magic Tan offers four colour bases, Violet, Brown, Green and Chocolate to suit a variety of skin types and tones. Our range of advanced spray tanning solutions are formulated to deliver a more natural looking, streak free, longer lasting even tan while also nourishing and moisturising the skin.

Understanding about skin tone is important for all cosmetic purposes and tanning is no exception. The skin’s undertone is the warm, cool, or neutral hue that shows through the surface colour of skin. Although the surface colour of skin changes depending on sun exposure and other skin conditions, the skin’s undertone remains consistent.

The Fitzpatrick scale was created to determine your skins susceptibility to UV rays and is broken down into 6 skin types. However, it does not relate to the skins undertone which never changes.

Knowing whether the bride’s undertone is warm, cool, or neutral will assist in making sure her tan matches her skin to achieve the best possible result.

There are several ways to determine your skin tone, but here is a quick method to keep in mind:

THE QUICK TEST

Look at the colour of the veins on the inside of the wrist. This is a quick way to determine your Bride’s undertone. Make sure you are examining the wrist in natural light, either standing near a window or outdoors, and that the skin is clean and free of product.

Underlying skin colour will always relate to one of these skin tones.

COOL SKIN TONE –

If the Brides veins appear blue or purple, her skin tone is cool.

The best tanning base for a cool skin tone is a tanning solution from our Green Base range. A Green base will counteract any pink hue the skin will throw leaving your Bride with the most natural looking tan.

WARM SKIN TONE –

If the Brides veins appear green, her skin tone is warm.

A warm skin type will quickly bronze or darken in the sun, so a warm skin tone would suit a violet base. Violet will counteract any yellow hue.

NEUTRAL SKIN TONE –

If you can’t tell whether the bride’s veins are green or blue, she most likely falls into the neutral skin tone category. Brides with a neutral skin tone have a wide variety of choice.
Should your Bride be lucky enough to have an olive complexion she will suit all colour bases.

Check list:

  1. Consultation: Schedule a consultation with the bride. Assess the bride’s skin tone, discuss her preferences, and provide personalised recommendations for the most flattering and suitable spray tan shade. Consider factors such as hair colour, eye colour, and the bride’s individual features to create a harmonious look.

  1. Trial Run: If possible, schedule a trial run for the bride to test your recommended spray tan solution. This will allow her to see how the tan develops on her skin and make any necessary adjustments for the actual wedding day.

  1. Desired Look: Discuss the bride’s desired look with her. Does she want a soft and natural glow, or is she looking for a deeper, bronzed tan? Consider the wedding dress, makeup, and overall aesthetic to ensure that the spray tan complements the bride’s overall look and style.

  1. Dress Colour: Consider the colour of the bride’s wedding dress. If it’s white or ivory, a light to medium tan shade can provide a beautiful contrast and enhance the bride’s radiance. If the dress has warmer tones or is off-white, a slightly deeper tan shade might complement the colour better.

  1. Natural and Subtle: Keep in mind that a natural and subtle spray tan is generally recommended for brides. The goal is to enhance the bride’s natural beauty and create a healthy, radiant glow that looks beautiful both in person and in photographs.

Remember, the bride’s comfort and preferences are key. Communicate openly with the bride and ensure that the chosen shade aligns with the bride’s vision for her wedding day.
